Athlete's foot

Athlete's foot is a fungal infection of the skin of the feet also called "tinea pedis". The skin of the foot is particularly susceptible to infection because the warm, dark and moist environment of shoes promotes fungal growth.

Athlete’s foot appears as maceration and cracking of the skin between the toes whereas on the plantar surface, small red spots and small patches of peeling skin can be perceived. People who have athlete’s foot may complain of burning or itchy feet.

As there are other conditions that have similar symptoms (eczema, psoriasis, erythrasma, etc.), the correct diagnosis is essential. Podiatrists are authorized to prescribe the appropriate cream to quickly address the problem and prevent the infection from spreading to other areas of the feet and nails.
