Biomechanical examination

The biomechanical examination is performed by the podiatrist and includes a series of tests and measurements which allow to define the problems affecting the musculoskeletal system of the feet and that could be the cause of pain in feet, knees, hips or back. During the examination, the podiatrist looks at the alignment of the body in general, the gait as well as the bone and joint structures of the feet and lower limbs.

The biomechanical examination allows to evaluate the after-effects of traumas like sprains, fractures or surgery, but also to check for various injuries. During the examination, the podiatrist can detect the presence of structural problems such as flat or hollow feet, the presence of bunions (hallux abducto valgus) and the formation of hammer toes. The examination allows evaluating the cause of a problem in order to establish a proper treatment plan.
